This volume is the original edition of Fr Damasus Winzen's book that was published when he was chaplain to the Benedictine nuns at the Abbey of Regina Laudis (Bethlehem, CT). Fr Winzen, of German origin, and formerly a monk of Maria Laach Abbey (Germany) was the founder of Mount Saviour Monastery (Elmira, NY). He's a capable thinker and teacher.

Much of Winzen's work is devoted to the study of the Old Testament in light of the sacred Liturgy. OT types help to understand what Jesus did as recorded in the NT. Winzen relies on the Fathers of the Church and tries to uncover the spiritual application of Scripture. This book is helpful for teachers, preachers, and and students of the Scriptures.

There is a 2003 reprint of this volume was done with an introduction by Scott Hahn. The introduction is worth having in your library.
