Definitely not a level 1. Words like bounce, machine, watcher, and hatched are sight words and that is in Book 1. Now to be fair, these words continue to show up in the other 5 books. Also, in this series they use small pictures of the characters and objects instead of the word so that it is easier to read. Unless you are a big Bob The Builder fan, I would think this could frustrate beginner readers if they try these on their own.... and, isn't this the goal, to make independent readers.
