Written and illustrated by Laura Jenkins Thompson, the book tells the charming story of friendship between Joseph and his friend, a Boykin Spaniel puppy named Susie. Actually a nice little book for one of those touristy books that exists to highlight the places to see in a city.

Although this book is a bit young for my grandson, I gave it to him, and read it, in preparation for our visit to Charleston, SC, over the coming Christmas holidays. It's an excellent venue for learning about terms and places unique to Charleston, like "piazzas, sweetgrass baskets, lighting rods, The Battery," etc. The glossary in the back of the book is helpful. It is "the official children's book of Charleston."
