Eighteenth-Century British Erotica, Part I

Rate this book
This set reprints many of the 18th century's most notorious works, including eight from "The Fifteen Plagues of a Maiden-Head" (1707), that resulted in highly publicized court battles and in some cases helped shape laws on censorship that survived into modernity.

This volume (1) covers the years 1699-1710. The texts are fun and of a variety of opinions, with the poems all starting "The Fifteen Comforts of..." being a series of parodies and responses. The London Bawd, meanwhile, is a fun exploration of a bawdy house hiding under a mask of moral panic. The other poems are also amusing, with varying levels of eroticism.
