Read It! Play It! is a wonderful resource for parents and for early childhood educators. The book highlights 50 age appropriate book for babies, younger toddlers, and older toddlers. Each "chapter" starts with an introduction to the chosen book (titles include classics like Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, Wheels on the Bus by Raffi, All Fall Down by Helen Oxenbury, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr.) including a short synopsis and an explanation for why babies and toddlers will relate to the book. Than the following two pages are dedicate to activities, games, songs, and dramatic play that relate to that book.

This is such a great resource for parents of young children. The book gives parents the tools to help them encourage early literacy skills in their young ones, as well as gives parents fun activities to do with their babies and toddlers. I wish that a book like this had been out 11 years ago when my daughter was a baby! Early childhood educators and even youth librarians can use this book to find age appropriate storytime reads and corresponding storytime activities.
