When the time was right, he courted the woman he believed to be his soulmate. After undue outside interference, their relationship soured. Now Joel wants to give it another chance. He's willing to risk everything to court the quiet widow, but isn't convinced of her commitment. Will they ever get another chance to be together? Or will their second chance pass them by? Author's This is a heartwarming historical novella with a happily ever after ending and no cliffhangers. It is a clean and wholesome story with nothing more than hugs, kisses, and holding hands.

Being a writer can be... interesting.

Walking down the street and watching people go about their day-to-day life, but thinking strange, even dangerous things.

I still clearly remember the day I stood at the traffic lights in downtown Melbourne. There she was, sitting in her car, waiting for the lights to change green. Tapping her fingers impatiently.

Something inside my head went off. Kaboom! An idea formed, and became the beginning of a novel.

Instead of sitting patiently at the lights, she was nervous, extremely anxious as she was being pursued by killers. The next thing she knew, an angry, crazy man was slamming her windscreen with a sledgehammer and she was running for her life.

Yes, the life of a writer is quite unique.

Fondness for the Baker is the second installment from the Small Town Matchmaker series by Cheryl Wright. I adored this tale. I quickly understood Martha from the start and felt a connection to her. It was fun to see her interacting with Joel. I thought it was a wonderful book to read on love, hope and second chances. I loved this beautiful and quick story.

Five plus stars is what I am giving Fondness for the Baker. I highly recommend it for readers who love to read historical romance novellas. I will be eagerly awaiting the third installment from Cheryl Wright’s Small Town Matchmaker series, Affection for the Doctor.

I received a digital copy of Fondness for the Baker from the author, but was not required to write a review, nor a positive one. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

This is a sweet and heartwarming story of a couple who, although they are no longer starry eyed teenagers, have been in love with each other for years but life events got in the way. This is Martha and Joel's story, and the character development is outstanding. Martha is a widow having lost her husband as a result of a heart attack. Joel is the the baker for the town of Crystal Springs. Even though they have interference from the town's matchmaker, will Joel be able to convince Martha of his love for her and will Martha let go of her fears and accept and return Joel's love? Will there be a HEA? Be sure and read this great story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Having loved Martha from a distance for too many years to count, despite her having married then losing her husband to a heart attack along with Dennis, the self proclaimed matchmaker actually driving them apart, Joel’s love never wavered. And even though he knew she had feelings for him, were those feelings strong enough to finally be allowed into her safely guarded heart? Would they both wait until it was too late, miss that window of opportunity? Another heart reaching book by this amazing author!

True love never dies

Even when the two people in love fight the feeling! Martha and Joel have loved each other for many years. Unfortunately, life’s circumstances kept then apart. When Martha became a widow, Joel knew he had to make a choice. His choice was to give Martha time to grieve, and then he would he would show her how much he still loved her. Getting Martha to get past her fears would not be an easy task for Joel, however!

Amei! . . Boa Leitura 😘

Joel and Martha

This a short and cute tale of two people who have loved each other from afar for ages. They were even courting and planning a wedding a couple years ago. The mercantile owner fancies himself the town matchmaker pushed until the stress broke them up. Now a couple years later they are rediscovering the love they’ve always had. You will enjoy discovering how they find their way to a happily ever after.

Cheryl Wright created a heroine I really had a hard time liking or maybe it is a hard time understanding. Her allowing the town gossip/matchmaker to derail her and Joel makes no sense. She’s lucky that he adores her. Ms. Wright will keep you guessing to the end what she is going to do. I really did enjoy the book.

Fondness for the Baker (Small Town Matchmaker Book 2)

I loved that this is a second chance at love book and is about an order couple. Martha and Joel have been in love for a long time but had let gossip about them keep them apart. Read the book to find how they fine their selves back to each other. Cheryl Wright has again brought us a great story.

Fondness for the Baker (Small Town Matchmaker Book 2)

I enjoyed this 2nd book in this series just as much as the 1st Book, Fondness for the Sheriff. I love the small town of Crystal Springs and the characters, including a few of the quirky ones who live there. This is Martha's and Joel's story and they kept me entertained for a couple of hours following to their HEA. JudyE

From afar

The second book in this series is just as wonderful as the first. Two friends discover their inability to move forward without each other. It's a wonderful premise and the main characters are a bit older and that makes it all the more fun.

Loved Martha and Joel's story. As usual Cheryl Wright threw in some twists and turns you wouldn't see coming. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series, as I'm loving the town, and it's characters!

I really enjoyed this book. It is nice reading about someone that isn't 18, 19, or 20. The characters are great and really liked the storyline. This is a great, easy to read series.
