This very special tribute to a television show that's still being enjoyed in reruns half a century after its creation captures the comic magic of I Love Lucy. Officially licensed with Desilu, Too, LLC, and CBS Entertainment, it's an affectionate, detailed look at the landmark sitcom. In episode after hilarious, heartwarming episode, captured in the pages of this handsome coffee-table volume, the gifted comedienne Lucille Ball, her dashing husband Desi Arnaz, and their stalwart costars come to life once more. For fans of the show, or of television nostalgia, in general, this generously illustrated commemorative collection is nothing short of an essential historical document.
I watched I Love Lucy as a kid...every single day. It is so ingrained in my childhood that even seeing clips on tv take me back to that time in my life.
This book is like a goldmine to any Lucy fan. From the fast fact sheets on both the characters (Lucy's middle name was Esmerelda) and actors who portrayed them (Vivian Vance was married 4 times but had no children)to the episode summaries on each and every episode. (Remember Vitameatavegamin and the chocolate factory conveyor belt and Lucy finally telling Ricky she was pregnant and ...well, you get the idea)
It's television history told in a fun and interesting way...made me miss a simpler time of tv. A time when the laughs were from slapstick comedy and innocent misunderstandings instead of sexual innuendo and vulgar word jokes. (Yeah, I'm talking to you, Three and a Half Men).
I'm a little sad that my kids won't have those memories.
5/5 STARS! I love Lucy (who doesn't?) & this book did a fantastic job of paying tribute to the beloved show with fun facts, great pictures, & cool fan letters from celebrities. Loved the layout of this & highly recommend as a coffee table book.
As a major "I Love Lucy" fan, raising a tiny, budding fan (my little girl just turned 4, she barely watches tv, but has seen at least half of the episodes in the series - she LOVES it)... We enjoy looking through this book and using it as a tool to talk about the episodes with each other. Granted, the info in it is not as unique as some other books I've read on the show... it's still an enjoyable read and a fun treasure for the avid fan. Also, since it features a photograph for each episode, it has been a great reference book for helping my daughter identify her favorite episodes to me. (Besides her vague made-up titles like "The Candy Lucy" "Santiago Chili" "Baseball Lucy" "Dress up Lucy" "Superman" & "Pizza" - LoL!) ;)
