Tides of history: A review of three historic tides that have helped shape the 20th century : Islam, Russia, science

Rate this book
This work reflects the continuity of history through time; history moves in deep coherent tides that change very slowly over the centuries and millennia. We discover that Arab suspicion and hate of the West and Islamic fundamentalism have roots that go back 500 and a thousand years or more. We discover that the form and outcome of the Soviet socialist experiment in Russia is not at all surprising in view of its preceding thousand year history. And we discover a relatively new tide of history, science and technology, pushing us more profoundly into the next millennium than any of the others. These examples amaze us by their vigor and impact. Surely a significant part of the third millennium itself will be defined by these tides.
