J.S.(Jen Selby) Furlong is an author, producer and actor. Raised in the Washington DC professional theatre, Jen spent her teenage years inhabiting other people's lives on stage and making them real. Her first published book was a LARP guide to playing truly evil bad guys: Antagonists for Mind's Eye Theatre, the LARP for Vampire: The Masquerade from White Wolf Publishing. Written under her maiden name, Jennifer Albright, this book was a natural integration of both writing and acting.

The largest portion of her writing began when she took a hiatus from acting to have children. A college professor once read a story she wrote and wrote on her paper "Not bad. You should publish this." Those words stuck with her. Hidden City was first drafted in 2004 just before the birth of her second son as an effort to write something her children could eventually read. Jen's teenaged heroines struggle with truth, possibility and who they are. Now mother to four of them, Jen loves teenagers and writes books that she hopes teens, tweens and adult lovers of YA will enjoy. A few random facts about Jen: 1. While writing this book initially she was also writing for and producing modern theatrical circuses, one of which she co-wrote with Neil Gaiman. 2. Jen's career in television and film includes a tiny but pivotal role on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. 3. Jen is a graduate of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and attended both Ithaca College and The University of Mary Washington.

One of her goals is to speak as many languages as she needs to run circuses and buy goats around the world. She lives in Virginia with her animals, her adorable husband and whomever else happens to be home. Follow Jen on IG at @iamjenfurlong. Hidden City is her debut novel.

A great read, very well written about a vampire based sort of Battle Royale scenario. The story takes place in the actual historical map of Richmond, VA. Met the author at Barnes and Noble, she was an amazing lady a truly kindred spirit. A little teen, but good none the less.

I read both of the first two books in one day. This is the 2nd book.

This is a real page-turner. I've never actually used that phrase to describe a book, but when you keep reading and can't put a book down, even at 5 a.m., it's the only way to describe it! (It's a good thing I'm retired. LOL)

Amazingly, this book picked up exactly where the first book left off, without skipping a beat! That's something else I've not experienced before. Although it's been a while between books, this helped me recall everything that went before.

And then it hit the ground running. Literally. The characters in this book are all real, true to life, people. None of them feel fake or like they're forcing their reactions and emotions. Stacey, of course, as the main protagonist, is as real as a transplanted Brooklyn teenager can get. Her reactions to living in Richmond, VA, and to the reality of the 'unimaginables' is so well written. Being in her head as she navigates her new life makes me wish I had known her when I was her age. Her BFF Meredith is another character who is 'real', although she is a latecomer in dealing with the other-worldly creatures in Richmond. Stacey's brother, Steve, is so adorable I just want to squeeze him! Part genius, part little kid, totally amazing! Her new Richmond friends, Finder and Tully, are exactly who she needs on Team Stacey! They are brave, skilled at fighting, loyal. What more could a leader want to have her back? And Nick...the 'Adorable Goth Boy'...Stacey has a lot on her hands when dealing with him and his issues but, hopefully, it will all be worth it in the end.

Anyway, there are other characters--some to love and some to hate. There are new 'unimaginables', and...:::sigh:::another cliffhanger. I hope the next book hits the shelves really quickly!

First of all, I am a "lady of a certain age" who is NOT a fantasy reader. Ever. So imagine my surprise and delight when I fell head over heels for the characters in JS Furlong's Unimaginables books. The people who populate this world are SO well developed i could relate on so many levels: the grandmother, mom. Stepmom, friend, girlfriend, college student and even the flawed "enemies". WARNING: READ HIDDEN CITY FIRST. Not vital but will increase your experience immensely.

An outstanding addition to the Unimaginables Universe

J.S. Furlong has provided another incredible Stacy Goldman adventure. At 676 pages, it is not a short read, but you get two full storylines for the price of one. An excellent way to spend a weekend.
