Born Adele Adkins, the singer more commonly known as Adele has had a meteoric rise to fame and she doesn’t show any sign of stopping. Raised by a single mother in one of the roughest areas of London, England, Adele’s first stroke of luck came when her mother decided that Adele should go to the BRIT School, a free performing arts high school in London. There, Adele was able to concentrate on her singing and songwriting talents. Adele’s final project during her senior year was to create a three-song demo and post it to MySpace. Many record companies tried to contact Adele within weeks of her MySpace posting, but XL Recordings turned out to be the most persistent and the best fit. Known for writing heartbreaking songs after past relationships ended tragically, the Grammy Award-winning singer is now concentrating on writing songs without having to experience heartbreak. She and Simon Konecki have a son and live in a seaside home in Brighton.

Filled with color photographs, text inserts, and many additional tools such as a timeline and suggestions for further research, these “People in the News” books are both informative and readable. Recommended for school and public libraries.
