I wanted to like this book. I loved the premise of the story and the intrigue was there. BUT.... There were so many errors, that someone with that many books out should have caught. Things worded oddly, wrong punctuation for dialogue tags, and missed words were all too apparent. I got through the first part of book 1 and couldn't continue. Yes, I understand grief, but this was too much. Most of the 55 pages I read were about her grief. We get that! Move on with it. Get to the story. I do not recommend this author.
Doctor Gemma Walker is tops in her field in Los Angeles. As a trauma surgeon she has proven herself again and again until, one stormy night...
Six months later she is still dealing with the traumatic loss of both parents as well as her own recovery from the injuries sustained in the horrendous crash that left her an orphan. She's worked hard on physically recovering but her flashbacks and daymares prove her psyche needs more time.
In settling her parents' estate she finds out she has also inherited an estate on Honey Bay in the Bahamas and decides after a ln inability to work on a trauma case that she really needs to go there and find some answers to questions she has about her Father's family and what to do about this part of her inheritance.
So far, in some ways she's found more questions than answers, and in true Amy Rafferty style, I find myself as eager to get some answers as Gemma is. Highly Recommended 5/5
[Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
Gemma Walker lost both parents in a car crash during a heavy rain and pileup on a road. She herself suffered from whiplash putting in a coma for 3 months.
When Gemma found out about the property she inherited, she decided to go to Honey Bay Manor and check it out.
Dean Singer showed Gemma around the manor. The manor needed a lot of work because it looked like it had been neglected. The owner was unable keep up with it. While going through the house with Dean, Gemma realized that she had been there before because a flashback hit her with past memories of the place. The town council wants to restore the manor because a lot of tourists have shown interest in seeing the house.
There are some really good characters in this book. Some may have their own agendas but it’s exciting to follow them to read what happens next.
I have enjoyed reading this book and hope there are many more to come. This book has an interesting plot and great characters. I can’t wait to read more.
This is the first in the series and is laying all the groundwork. Gemma is a doctor and the child of two doctors. She is involved in a serious accident that claims the lives of her parents and leaves her with traumatic injuries. Six months later Gemma is trying to get her life back on track. When she goes to the will reading for her parents she learns about an inheritance her father received. Thus the mystery has begun. Who is the woman that left the manor to her father? Why does Gemma remember a frightful incident in her nightmares butcant really put the pieces together? Why is there no information or pictures about her patents before they met? When she goes to the Manor, her sense of deja vue is strong, but people think she's someone else. So many questions. A wonderful scenery setting for the new mystery.
This is the second Amy Rafferty book I have read. Honey Bay Cafe: Moonlight Dreams is the first in the Second Chance Beach Mystery series. It is about Dr. Gemma Walker and a series of rough times of loss in her life that leads to her having a hard time coping with her work as a doctor. She decides to take a trip to Honey Bay to find some answers, check out a home left to her in her father's will and take a much needed vacation. It was a very short book and really left me with lots of questions. It seemed to end suddenly, but I assume that means that because it is a series the story will be continued in the next book!
This is the first book in Amy Rafferty’s new series. Doctor Gemma Walker was in an accident that killed her parents. While she is recovering she learns she has inherited a manor, a cafe and a business in Honey Bay. She meets attorney Dean Singer who mistakes her for someone else, they do not get off to a good start. Can’t wait to see where this series goes, it’s off to a great start. Like all Amy Rafferty’s books it’s a page turner that ends with a cliffhanger. Really enjoyed this installment.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Great start to a new series. Lots of mystery surrounds the manor house in Honey Bay. After Gemma, a respected trauma surgeon learns she has inherited the house, she makes a trip to the Bahamas. Needing time to recover from a tragic automobile accident Gemma heads to find out more about her inheritance. Her meeting with lawyer Dean Singer does not go well. A case of mistaken identity only adds to Gemma questions
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion
Just finished reading Honey Bay Cafe: Moonlight Dreams. It was a sad start to the series, but a very enlightening one. I really got a feeling for Gemma and her life. She has been through a lot. Honey Bay seems like it will be a nice little island. Now, all I have to do is figure out why Gemma was mistaken for Gabby and why people are so mad at her? Also, did Gemma ever live or stay on Honey Bay before? If so, why did she leave? Here we go again Amy, so many questions to be answered.
This story started out with lots of unanswered questions and continues to get more mysterious with each page. I think this is going to be an intriguing series and can't wait for the next book to reveal more about what is in store for Doctor Gemma Walker.
Once again the author quickly pulled me into her new book and I could not stop reading. The characters, the first chapter, and the mystery were very exciting. I really liked reading the book! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I love this author. I’ve read many of her stories. She pulls her readers into the story and it feels like I’m living inside. This is another with so many what? In it. But it will get deep and I will be satisfied that I indulged my reading time here
Meet Doctor Gemma Walker (love the name Gemma). Blind date, car accident, memory loss, will and a big surprise, I received an ARC copy and this review is given by my choice. Fantastic new series.
