Lovely piece, both in sound (there are at least three recordings I know of; I streamed the Cuarteto Latinoamericano’s recording on Dorian Records) and the presentation of the score itself. The work was composed (as it says on the last page) in 1917, in Rio de Janeiro, but sounds like a more recent work (though still tonal, basically C minor - though the C majorish finale ends on A minor). (This edition or reprint itself is a fairly recent one.) By the way: Description of this score given at Goodreads: "But when one questioner asks the true meaning of Christmas, the kids seek to unravel the mystery by journeying back through the prophecies of the Old Testament." This has 0, zilch, zero to do with Villa-Lobos’ string quartet no.4. Nothing. Nada. I mean, wth? This does not come from Amazon.com's description, which is sparse. (I also notice it has not yet been fixed - unsurprisingly.) Villa-Lobos and Peermusic: 5 stars. Goodreads: 0.
