She's a pretty gracious old turtle, playing her flute still for the very kids who wanted to eat her. I tend not to gravitate to books where the children are obviously terrible, but, if you are doing a lesson on different cultures' folktales, this might be a good choice.

The kids wanted to turn her into turtle soup... What wild beast children! I love the idea of an old dancing flute playing grape loving Mexican turtle.
