About the author

Belinda Rapley has been immersed in the world of horses since she was 11, starting out with riding lessons and holiday hacks. She later gained a Diploma in Horse Studies and qualified as a riding instructor. She has also worked in showjumping and in a flat racing yard. Away from horses, Belinda has an English degree from UCL and has written for Horse and Hound online. She is currently training to be a social worker in Children and Young People's services.

Even though the first book in this series was a bit weak and slow, this one has improved significantly!

The four friends calling themselfs the Pony detectives enjoy summer and competitions and generally having a good summer holiday, one of the girls being very successful in the jumping competitions. Unfortunally her pony is only on loan, so when the real owner shows up, they all panic and decide to try and save him and make sure he gets to stay.

It's quite dramatic, and of course the owner is more than a little shady. It's a classic crime-story with very shady adults. Kiddo thought it was very exciting and I have to say I got into it to. (Despite all the horse-talk...)

It's one of those things that horse-crazy kids tend to forget, seeing the ponies and horses as their 'cuddle-babies' that they love more than anything. Horses are expensive. And a horse or pony that is really good in competitions are worth A LOT of money. And that's what's going on here.

It was a good crime-story, and both me and kiddo enjoyed it. I hope the rest of these books will keep improving!
