Traces the avant-garde artist, sculptor and set designer, Robert Wilson to his studio, looking at his creative processes and unconventional techniques.
This is a companion to the excellent documentary "Absolute Wilson" - and if you're not familiar with Robert Wilson's visionary theater work or his fascinating life, then I recommend seeking that out first.
This book is a lavishly illustrated oral history / coffee table tome. There are numerous interviews with Wilson and various collaborators and critics who aren't included in the documentary, as well as scores of striking images that haven't appeared elsewhere. It's especially rich on Wilson's early silent dream plays with the Byrd Hoffmann School of Byrds - focusing on his epic 7-day play performed in the mountains of Iran during the early 1970s.
This is a wonderful book if you like Robert Wilson. There are lots of great images of his work that are not available elsewhere, and it's definitely a fun read. Not terribly critical or academic, but fun for a big fan like me.
Very interesting biography with a LOT of interview and photos from his productions and people he has worked with. A very good companion book to the documentary film.
