I have a nephew who is more into volcanos than cars, who I think will enjoy this book. the words are more than basic, but it tells a basic story. a good start for sounding out words.

Guided Reading Level H/ Lexile 170/ Word Count 170:
In this text the main problem is the introduction a race with several cars. Who will win the race? I would recommend this text for end of first grade, beginning of second. Xander has been reading it to me this summer.
