I came across this book because I recently got my mom's old (broken, but somehow still works) Iphone. I found it free on iBOOKS and thought the summary was quite intriging. My absolute favourite character is Oscar, the old, grumpy, wise, and humerous man. His wit makes me laugh everytime. Basically, this book is about a women, Lizzy, who's husband has just commited suicide. She went through and gave up a lot for her husband. But he wasn't worth it at all. This is a story of how she struggles to open up and become happy again. And I might as well add that I loved the emotions in this book. It was very heartwarming. Everything kinda just clicks together, in the end, somehow.

Definitely not my usual choice of books but was curious as to what other style Lynnie has written. I was very impressed, again, as the how well the book is written. Lizzy has been the victim of an abusive husband who commits the greatest act of selfishness and imposes an emormous level of pain and guilt on her already depressed life. Lizzy, at the advice of her siste, begins a lonely trek to New York in her ancient VW when the VW breathes it's last. She is rescued by Will, a jack of all trades, and is introduced to her "therapy" group consisting of Will, his daughter Alyce, a blind former financial wizard named Oscar and so begins her road to healing. Lizzy not only rediscovers her love and gift for painting she also finds peace in a relationship she never expected.

Pretty decent story. General theme is about dealing with abuse and loss. The main character is written in such a way that you have sympathy for her, and hope that she is able to heal from the hurt she has suffered. Life lessons learned throughout the story. A quick read that didn't leave me asking too many questions at the end.

I found this book on one of my weekly, free book Friday, roams. It is an absolutely beautiful story of a woman clutched by fear, grief and guilt. With some editing this book would be beyond brilliant, nothing short of a masterpiece of human emotion.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well written and feel real. I think Will is my favorite character. He has his faults but overall he is a great guy. He is just the friend that Lizzy needs at this time in her life.
