One year after the tragedies of Underbelly, James Grey continues his withdrawal from society and the spirit world, choosing the no frills lifestyle of the American hobo. Recurring spirits and old friends pressure him to return to 'normal' society, to a world blighted by threats as the Pagan Resistance returns with a vengeance while a clandestine organisation starts hunting all practitioners of the occult. Complicating matters further, an exhibitionist, Catherine Heppelwhite, determines to put herself at the centre of everything, as either help or hindrance.

Way more violent than I usually read, but I loved this. Creepy. About a guy who talks to dead people's spirits. Contains a surprisingly good love story. Really long at 822 pages, but I was sorry it had to end, I loved it so much.
