From the governmental to the monumental, this guide leads you deep into the corridors of power in the nation's capital and cultural powerhouse. Included are a full architectural and historical briefing on the city's landmarks, inside information on watching our government at work (and play), and surveys of Washington's unrivaled museums and galleries, its eat-and-meet scene, and its neighborhoods and subcultures as locals know them, as well as details on trips beyond the Beltway.
I prefer the contents of the Dorling Kindersley guide for the coverage of the main tourist attractions along the downtown Mall area. However, this is the third Washington guide I've perused and all are much of a muchness. Where this Time Out scores with me is the size. It matters. There are no pull out maps, but adequate and detailed area and street maps are in the back of the book. Out of all my guide samples, this one would fit best into a pocket or camera bag. It also scores with the music scene coverage.
