Kitty Kool's new makeover school is looking fabulous! She hopes she can bring happiness and sunshine into the lives of those who really need her help. She dreams of making a difference. But when Kitty gives a makeover to a ragged rabbit, a silly spider and a cranky croc on their way to a carnival, things don't go quite to plan!
This book is about kitty opening a beauty school and giving makeovers to different animals who are going to the animal carnival. They all are not happy with how they look and kitty thinks maybe opening a beauty school isn’t such a good idea after all. How will the other animals react when they see the makeovers? This book is designed to show children that it is alright to be different but I don’t think this is portrayed very well in the story. It doesn’t come through as an underlying theme therefore I have given the book three stars only. However it is nice for girls in key stage 1 who have just grasped the concept of reading for independent reading, it would appeal to the girls who are interested in dressing up and beauty as it has lots of beautiful and colourful illustrations on each page.
Young female readers would absolutely love this bold, striking almost luminescent book. The colours are so vivid they would appeal to any little girl. I did like the rhymes throughout the book which would be great to share and I enjoyed the characters who visit Kitty's beauty school. This book would definitely stand out on any bookshelf.
