Nice tidbits and tales from Ernie Harwell from decades of announcing games and being a fan. Some are things he witnessed though most are tales and oddities that he has heard over his career. A lot I've heard before but quite a few I hadn't and it can be read in short bursts. All the tales are amusing or interesting.

Highly recommended, easy to read and will put a smile on the face of the baseball history lover.

Ernie Harwell was a longtime baseball broadcaster primarily for the Detroit Tigers in the 60s, 70s and 80s.. This is a book of short anecdotes that someone like him might use during downtime in broadcasting a game, or as stories told by an after dinner speaker. Some anecdotes are probably apocryphal, and he admits that. But all in all it was an enjoyable, light read for any baseball history fan.

Ernie Harwell's follow-up to "Tuned to Baseball" is another classic full of stories that he was fond of reciting and it shows. There are a lot of chuckles and outright laughs and it brought a smile to my face on some otherwise dreary days. We miss you Ernie.

Growing up a Tiger fan, I can remember going to bed each night with Ernie Harwell on the radio hid under my pillow. As he would say: he fell asleep in the 3rd; left me in the 7th, but in the end I was always there when they went to sleep.

Great book, Mr. Harwell was a great person and it was fun to read and also listen to his insights of the game that he has seen and heard over the years.

There will never be an Ernie Harwell! I will always remember you!

Rest In Peace!
