Small Gas Engine Repair

Rate this book
This popular guide is just the thing for people who seem to spend more time arguing with their lawn mowers than they do using them. With Small Gas Engine Repair, do-it-yourselfers can fix any small gas-powered machine on the spot and save hundreds of dollars in technical fees. The book's also a great source of troubleshooting and preventive maintenance techniques. Enhanced illustrations and lots of new material make up this second edition, including coverage of new American engines, emissions testing procedures, carburetor rebuilding techniques, and new starter and ignition systems. Japanese engines are also highlighted for the first time.

The book was about how to put back together a small motor. It talked about how to put a weed eater back together, and it told you about how the air blows through the motor. It talks about all the parts it takes to put it back together.

I'm a software engineer by trade, and picked up this book because I feel pretty ignorant around engines (and because I just like machines). While this book does a great job of explaining concepts like combustion, I got a lot out of the illustrations of the machinery. I'd recommend this to someone needing a change of pace from the usual books they read -- it's important to know how basic things we interact with nearly every day work.

Good reference book. Can tell this is complicated enough for a lot of scenarios you either need previous experience or someone to apprentice with. YouTube has people who show parts of these issues and how to fix which can be good too, but I like the explanations and walk throughs given in a book.

Small Gas Engine Repair by: Paul Dempsey. This is an informational book about Gasoline Powered Engines. I liked this book a lot, it was very detailed and full of helpful information. The major conflict was that most people do not know enough about the engines to know how to take care of them. This book also is written, illustrated and labled in a way that most people would understand. When you are reading this book, it takes a while to get into. Overall, this was a good, well written informational book that you can referance while servicing engines.

This book was about how to fix a small gas motor. It had everything from gas and carburetors and fuel pumps to starters and flywheels. Governors to tell u how fast you want your motor to spin. To points that tell your motor when to spark at the right time to ignight the fuel. Or if refuses to idle or run at full speed

I hate reading, so it was hard for me to find a book. My teacher made us pick a book to read every Monday. I had to find a book so i decided to choose Small Gas Engine Repair by Paul Dempsey. I figured this book would be a good choice because it's about something i like, cars and small engines. I figured the book would be about repairing small engines and it would be useful to me. The book was what i thought it would be, it gave information on different parts and had pictures that were labelled. I enjoyed the pictures, they were detailed and descriptive. I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in small engines.

If you aren’t interested in cars or small engine repair don’t even bother with this book. A part that i didn’t like was that the pictures weren’t in color. The pictures they had were okay and the labels were good, but it could have been better. If I had a problem with my fourwheeler or needed to fix an engine I would use this book, and I would recommend it to my other friends who may need the information to help them. Even though i didn’t like the pictures I thought some information, I still like this book.

An interesting section of the book was the part about troubleshooting, sometimes even if you put an engine together right there are still things that can be wrong and the troubleshooting is a good section to have, especially if you are frustrated. Another part that I like about this book is that it’s easy to use, especially the fact that there is an index in the back for quick reference checks.

Another source for references is the appendix at the end, it gives you outside resources that are online just in case you don’t find the information you need in this book. The section of the book that was most helpful to me was the chapter called Troubleshooting, because it helped me learn things I didn’t already know. It made me think of possible problems that I didn’t think of before I read this book.

Shows that are similar to this are called Fast & Loud, Counting Cars, and Street Outlaws. These shows are similar to learning to restore or fix engines. In Fast & Loud, they rebuild old engines and restore old cars. People bring in their old cars to get restored and then they get them back all rebuilt One car that they restored was a green 1967 Shelby Mustang, they walk through the process of repairing and restoring the engine just like they do in this book. Although, if you don’t have any interest in repairing cars, don’t even pick up this book or watch those shows.
