IMO, it corrects some of the unfortunate unclear translations, additions, purposeful rewritings over the centuries that distort the earliest texts. Lamsa's other explanatory books about the customs of ancient people, especially the sayings that aren't meaningful to moderns, greatly help in the understanding of your favorite edition/translation of the Bible (esp. New Testament).
