Lost Amusement Parks of the Hudson Valley

Rate this book
For hundreds of years throughout the world, amusement parks have appealed to "the kid in all of us." The authors highlight some of the lesser known amusement parks that entertained millions into the 20th century throughout the Hudson Valley. The author revisit numerous parks including Electric Park at Kinderhook Lake, Woodcliff Pleasure Park in Poughkeepsie, Orange Lake in Newburgh, Indian Point in Westchester County, and many more. Find out which park had the fastest and highest roller coaster in the world; learn about daring entrepreneurs who risked all their capital to build these parks; remember a time when steamships and trolley cars delivered the masses to the parks' doorsteps.

Without books like this, we lose our more interesting pasts. The authors have done a great service to our history.
