I am English and recently bade a fond farewell to my forties. I have been writing stories since school when I won a parker pen for being shortlisted in a national schools writing competition.
My particular genre of choice wanders around all over the place, but has mainly settled into humorous fantasy and science fiction (or at least I think they're humorous and some people who have kindly left reviews seem to agree).
During any spare time (of which there isn't much since I'm recently widowed and dealing with two children) I edit a website focussed on science fiction television at www.scififreaksite.com and a similar blog on the side.
I then try to cram in a few books on my kindle to read.
I've read and loved these three books as separate editions. I'm very pleased to see them available as a collection.
Darren Humphries' books tick all my boxes. Wonderful language, winding story lines that are so well done they are effortless to follow, great characters and creatures, and, especially in his UNDEAD trilogy, laugh out loud humour. I eagerly await further adventures from Agent Ward.
A really enjoyable three book series that is a homage to James Bond. Agent Ward works for a department of the united nations in world that is similar, but also very different from ours. Its a world with magic and monsters that have survived from previous ages and it's Ward's job to stop the crazy-end-of-the-world schemes that crop up on a regular basis. These schemes range from plans to use magic to change the world, to politicians killed by zombies to possibly world destroying earthquakes. All told, this is a fun, well thought out and well written series that was a good read.
