Oliver Optic was the pen name of William Taylor Adams, a Massachusetts schoolteacher whose magazines and stories for children reached a very wide audience from the 1850s through the turn of the twentieth century.

Not quite as exciting as the others in this series, but lot's of fun all teh same. This time Christy has stepped down from his captaincy to be a leutenant aboard his beloved Bellevite. His mission is to assist a French spy in the south. With disguises and French phony accents, surprise meetings, captures, and more than one dangerous escipade, this book has everything to make a good book.
