This was a version of Aladdin that I grew up with that wasn't based off of Disney and I felt that it was actually a lot more fulfilling than the Disney version. For the most part story and Disney were a bit hand-in-hand at one point but where Disney has Carpet, this version has the Genie of the Ring thus you have two genies for the price of one.

What also really makes this particular book stand out for me were the illustrations as they are brightly colored, very detailed and also keep the exotic appeal of Aladdin as well as the other people around him. There isn't much stereotypical features that I can see although the colors of the genies were an interesting combination and now looking back at this I kind of wonder if the Disney artists were aware of this adaptation for the outfit this Aladdin wears is almost close to what Disney's version comes out with at one point.

The story does have a bit of a darker theme towards the end since it does explain how he gets rid of the evil magician so some parents may just want to take the into consideration before sharing this book with their young readers. Otherwise if you don't mind overlooking that I would say that this is one of the better versions that you will come across in your reading journey.
