Flesh is an opaque wall of skin, veiling amazing feats of biology deep within the complicated architecture of the body. Our ovaries are small towns–but, then, it takes a village to raise a child! The uterus prepares for the egg’s monthly–periodic/period, like a room being painted red for a new occupant. Menstruation is the origin of life, the blood in which all life begins. An artistic, poetic celebration and catalyst for conversation about the phenomenon of menstruation.

My sister gave me this book. It doesn't do much for me. Maybe I should find somebody who would like it more that I could give it to.

A picture book that explains menstruation to the kiddies, circa ages 8-10. Lots of pink-and-red-blobby artwork (symbolic!). A glossary in the back explains words like "hormone" and "biology".
