The increasing failure of our public schools to teach fundamental literacy has been repeatedly documented. This book addresses the fact that more and more children and teens require remedial teaching in order to be functionally literate in our society and it outlines the essentials needed to be a literate adult. The first three chapters confine themselves to the necessary academic skills. The fourth chapter of the book addresses the Computer literacy skills that are a practical neccessity in the 21st century. This small book is an attempt to catch the growing number of children and teens who are slipping through the widening academic cracks in our public school system.
This book is SHORT. It's aim is to briefly (extremely briefly) spell out the bare minimums of what encompasses a child/adult's education and (once more) extremely briefly explain how to teach those bare minimums.
I dropped a star because the book is remarkably short. I believe I may have mentioned that. It is 102 pages long including index. And, they used a massive font. If you are far sighted, you wil likely be able to read this without your glasses.
If you are hesitant about homeschooling because you feel you lack the education and/or knowledge, this book will provide you the confidence needed to homeschool. And, that's why I gave the book 4 stars because I believe it achieved the author's goal.
