The Weak and Foolish Things of Seattle

Rate this book
Bigotry, backstabbing, and betrayal. This may sound like the beginnings of a drama but for Pastor James Reese these words sum up his church ministry experience on a regular basis. For fifty years, The Sanctuary in Seattle has dealt with these issues and slowly lost more and more congregation members. Reese is at a crossroads of every pastor's he has one year to turn this ministry around or to close the doors on their fifty year ministry. With no money, no hope, and a questioning of his faith and purpose, Reese is given a bizarre reoccurring dream that will not leave him. Is this the ravings of man on the brink of a mental meltdown or is James being shown a different way to conduct ministry? His faith is about to be tested and everything he thought about ministry is about to be turned upside down. Barry Irwin Brophy was born in Auckland, New Zealand and immigrated to the United States at the age of five. In 2003, Brophy experienced manic episodes of depression that led him to his faith in Jesus Christ. From 2007-2009, Brophy co-led a Campus Crusade for Christ Ministry at Everett Community College. Brophy is an Oak Initiative member and currently resides in the state of Washington with his wife Brittany and they are participators in a wide variety of church and para-church activities. Currently, Brophy participates on the prayer intercession team for his local church and enjoys writing, painting, and researching genealogy in his spare time.

I immigrated from Auckland, New Zealand at the age of five with my family. I was a self-proclaimed gothic atheist and experienced depression as a teenager which led to my faith in Christ. I am an active member in my local church helping out in whatever area is needed and spend my time volunteering in spreading antihuman trafficking awareness.
