The heroine of Circles in Time, an elementary school principal, is named Faith which, like Christian in John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, proclaims her essential role in the story. This carefully worked and deeply felt tale of Faith’s struggle to co-exist with her horrible husband, Jake, is a remarkable pioneering literary narrative. Its importance is heightened because it comes from a Catholic source. According to Gallup, some 23% of Catholic laity believe in reincarnation, contrary to their church’s dogma. Doubtless, many more of them also believe in spirit guides hard at work advising humans from the Other Side. That is something the book explores very fully. In all it is a commendable fictional treatment of spiritual awareness.
The story, a serious work, builds on contemporary evidence of the journey of the soul. Faith discovers she had many previous lives, including those as Margaret, Running Fox, the little boy Tom, all of whom had brutally shortened lives being murdered by the same person who is now her husband Jake. We brace ourselves to see Faith polished off as his latest victim but, of course, her name is Faith! As a child she exercised considerable psychic powers and now readily chats away with her spiritual guides. (That esoteric feat is not news as through a channel I have done the same thing for ten years.) The author is perfectly right to stress the universal rule of the soul’s Freedom of Choice, even when it is Jake seeking that freedom. Less acceptable is the book’s understanding of karma. The belief is stated as an ongoing retribution or punishment falling across succeeding lives, and it provides some of the dramatic intensity in the story. That interpretation may be good Hinduism but the more modern view of karma is of neutral energy that radiates out from an event experienced by an individual. It is consequential rather than punitive and can be avoided by the soul’s innate freedom.
This is well written book, studiously balanced to get all the evidence in, and so does not qualify as light reading. I found it a remarkable literary piece that expertly takes us a lot further in our understanding of the incarnate spirit as it progresses from one generation to the next in search of enlightenment.

Faith, a school administrator, feels stuck. She's married to Jake, who is a cruel and verbally abusive man. Although she is a self sufficient woman who can support herself, she can't find the courage to divorce her husband.

Since childhood, Faith has had a gift that allows her to speak to the other side. Now, in her time of need, Faith reaches out and asks for help, and the other side takes her to different past lives. Faith goes on a journey that helps her find the cause of Jake's hatred towards her in her current lifetime, and also gives her the courage she needs to leave her husband.

Meanwhile, in a shocking turn of events, Jake needs Faith's help. However, despite his grave situation, he won't change his abusive behavior towards Faith. What should she do now?

Circle in Times is a very interesting existential novel that left me in deep thoughts.

The author, Diane Adams Taylor, went through regression therapy that helped her overcome her own challenges, and her book can be used as a guide to answer the following questions:

How do you explore your past lives through self meditation?

How do past lives affect our current life, and what is karma?

How do you handle irrational and unreasonable abusive spouses with integrity and in an assertive way?

How and why is it important to balance your karmic debt?

What happens between past lives? Is there such a thing as destiny and how does it relate to our free will?

How can we improve our future lives with our current actions?

This is also a great book for people who want to grow spiritually and better themselves.

I really enjoyed reading "Circles in Time" by Diane Adams Taylor. Circles in Time is a story about Faith, who is a school administrator, who is trapped in a unhappy marriage with Jake. Jake is verbally abusive and physically abusive towards Faith, his step-daughter Sarah, his family, friends, and co-workers. Faith has a special gift where she can travel to the Other Side. When Faith travels to the Other Side she learns about many of her past lives, some of those has resulted in her death by the same man as her current husband. Once Jake is diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, Faith hopes that Jake will ask for forgiveness and make amends to all the people he has hurt in the past and the present. Will Faith ever feel safe again? Will Jake change his ways? Will the past help Faith find the answers to her questions about her present life? Will the circle of abuse ever be broken?

Diane Adams Taylor writes a thought provoking novel that will have you searching for answers about your own spiritual journey. The author raises a effective message of life, love, and ultimate forgiveness in this inspirational novel that will remind everyone that our choices can make us question or accept our religious contentment. The novel was well written, easy to read, and a very inspirational novel about spousal abuse. I felt the pain that Faith went through and experienced the joy of knowing she was protected by God. God can help anyone who accepts him with life's challenges.

A thought-provoking exploration of the power of faith, Circles In Time follows one woman's journey through emotional hardship and spiritual discovery. Faith Lucas is a middle-aged wife and mother struggling to cope with her marriage to an abusive man. Her soul-searching leads her to discover that in several of her past lives, this same man who is now her husband has been present as a dangerous threat to her wellbeing and safety, even ultimately being responsible for her death many times over. She takes this information and, coupled with her ability to speak with the angels, embarks on a strenuous and selfless path to attempt to help the man who has caused her so much pain.

Taylor evokes a powerful message of life, love, and forgiveness in this inspiring novel, reminding us all that it is the choices we make that determine our spiritual contentment. The somber story she tells about a woman beaten down by abuse and neglect is both shockingly real and inspiring in its honesty. I feel as though every person who reads this novel will take something away from it, be it reassurance, insight, or even a stronger understanding of things in this world we cannot readily explain.

I received this novel as a gift in exchange for an honest review.

A modern-day Christian Fable, Circles in Time explores how the choices you make can affect you, in this life and the next. Diane Adams Taylor uses this novel as a way to discuss the role and effect of free will, Karma, and God in our lives. Without deep character development but a focus on actions and their reactions, the story explores one woman’s fight for freedom and peace in a world that seems intent on keeping her trapped.

Although the pace could be a tad faster and narrative less repetitive, Circles in Time is filled brilliant, interesting ideas that will have you deep in thought. The book is quite didactic, outlining how we should all live our lives, which may be a hard pill for some to swallow but perfect for those looking for direction.

I don't usually read this type of book but a friend recommended it and it was fantastic. I read it in record time and thoroughly enjoyed it. the characters are well thought out and past lives were fascinating.
We should all live our lives with the idea that if we don't get it right we are going to have to keep trying until we get it right.
