This is the first book of the series and Yasmin and her brothers is struggling in the projects, trying to keep the good grades they have. Yasmin older brother had killed himself because he found out that he had got his girlfriend pregnant. Jade the girl who he got pregnant and her dad is trying to figure out what to do with the baby. Whether you abort it or give it up for adoption. This book is like a mystery book to find what is going to happen next in their family struggles.

Yasmine , York , and Yancy are unique names.
I loved this book little Yasmine is beyond her years smart , kind, and a follower of Christ. She's the main one with some common sense. I hate how hard her mother was on her she's the least favorite character in the book. Yasmine is dealing with a lot but for her age she's dealing with it well. York is just like his mom with his bad attitude having self. This book can be an inspiration to anybody going through trials.

This book was the most inspiring book I have read in my childhood. It opened my eyes being a young christian girl and experiencing life through someone else's eyes. Even tough this book is fiction it will really scoop you into Yasmins world of struggling and living through God's will. This book is the perfect book a and I recommend it to young black girls in particular. This is because this book makes certain connections and describes the hardtime's that black people face on the daily. You don't even have to be a Christian to like this book. All religions should read this book though I warn you......You will have a change of heart and a change of mind after reading. :)

I'm really enjoying this book so far-it's a page turner for me. It's about a 13-year-old girl named Yasmin, who is beginning her eighth grade year while also dealing with the death of her eldest brother Jeff (don't worry; they tell you that in the beginning). She struggles with other family crisis along with this, and also just all the drama of middle school. But through it all she begins to see God at work in her life. She begins to draw closer to God through her struggles, much like I do in my own life. For a long while now I've been going through a lot of things myself, and this book just gave me so much hope-when I picked it up I just couldn't put it down! I related to this girl so much, it was amazing.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was the names of the characters. See, there was a pattern going. Yvette, York, Yancy,Yasmin...and then there's Jeff. Jeff! Oh, and by the way, Yancy is a boy's name. Could've fooled me. York, Yancy, and Yasmin are triplets. Yvette is the mother.
Other than that though, I love everything about this book.

Review by Gretchen Hoffman

After the suicide of her oldest brother, Yasmin Peace’s life is anything but peaceful. Her father’s in jail, her brothers York and Yancy stir up trouble in and out of school, and her mom struggles to support them and be a good mother. All this has Yasmin wondering where God is in all this. When Yasmin begins praying, she sees how things change. Life is still difficult and full of challenges, but God always provides—good friends, an uplifting mentor—and with Him by her side, she can face whatever life throws.

I enjoyed reading about Yasmin and delving into the details of her life. She has a lot of spunk and attitude, and it was great to see how she deals with friends, petty girls, and finding God in the midst of tragedy. The book was a little too preachy at points, but overall, I enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to book two and seeing what Yasmin will encounter next.
