Part pilgrimage and part travelogue, this book of paintings portrays twelve sites considered sacred by Native American tribes of the Southwestern United States. The painting series originally titled "Sacred Sites of the Indigenous Peoples of the Southwest" was conceived by Patricia Waldygo and funded by a grant from the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation. The grant paid for art supplies and her travel expenses to the various sites.
