I was given this by my mum as a present last year for my first Mother’s Day as a new mum. I read a couple then, and have only just read all the poems together.
I love the introduction to the poems which says ‘the wish to look after, to protect, to nurture - means that to be a mother you don’t have to be a woman or even have children’.
The poems are a mixture of styles and I enjoyed reading them. They weren’t as sentimental as I was expecting and some are uplifting and funny, however one in particular I found very moving.
A lovely collection of poems.
