The endless zombie hordes of INFESTATION are defeated... but now a greater threat looms in INFESTATION 2! The balance of magic has been tipped allowing the nightmares of H.P. Lovecraft, the ELDER GODS, to break through their cosmic prison and attack all known realities in the IDW universe!
Crossovers and mashups are so much fun. This book combines the Cthulhu mythos with IDW comics CVO (Covert Vampire Operations), 30 Days of Night, and Groom Lake.
The followup to IDW's earlier Infestation storyline. Where the original dealt with a multiversal zombie invasion, this features an multiversal invasion by H.P. Lovecraft's Great Old Ones. Most of this volume features IDW's original CVO characters (apparently resolving the storyline by themselves - though two more volumes remain), but there are also crossover appearances by other lesser-known characters. The 30 Days of Night tie-in - which could easily have been published as its own unconnected tale - is probably the best of the set; the rest are just OK. (B)
The art is pretty good throughout, but that doesn’t make up for stories with no real substance. The alien guy and bat boy crap? Just plain stupid. I’m taking another star off for making me think of that as I wrote this.
