Formulaic with a few interesting anecdotes. The audiobook edition is filled with numerous, glaring mis-pronunciations. This style of book is better if the subject is not a favourite team where the fan already has plenty of knowledge.

I was disappointed in this book and the main reason being, for a book called “Tales from the Dugout” there were very few tales from the dugout or behind the scenes. Most of the book was just recaps of specific games or seasons. These are things you could just easily find in google. I guess I was hoping for more unique and entertaining stories than what was offered.

The book read less like collection of fun never before heard stories and more like a history book. Also, since I have been a fan of the Padres all my life I already knew many of the things presented in the book. Especially the history from my life that spans from the 90’s to today.
