I read this book in its original language. There are English translations available. The author writes his view of the new world. In order to make the new world more mysterious and thrilling many writers altered their view of it. They brought back news of cannibalism and wild untamed savagery. Bringing back news of the peaceful and simple life of the natives would not seem as intriguing and exotic.
