Gordon Jay Lish is an American writer. As a literary editor, he championed many American authors, particularly Raymond Carver, Barry Hannah, Amy Hempel, and Richard Ford.
An interesting series that I often read many years ago. These quarterlies are collections of short (and very short) stories, poems and sketches, and the writing (for me) can swing from very good to very bizarre. Edited by Gordon Lish.
I came across The Quarterly, edited by Gordon Lish, in the Tulane campus bookstore in the spring of '87 and was hooked. I still have several issues. If you can lay hands on one -- it came out into the 1990s -- it's really quite the trove of contemporary and experimental short stories.
