This collection reproduces eight of Randolph Caldecott's picture books, which took as texts traditional rhymes and songs, and which he illustrated in sepia and colour. The books reproduced here include "The Babes in the Wood", "The Queen of Hearts", "Sing a Song of Sixpence", "Ride a Cock-Horse to Banbury Cross", "The Great Panjandrum Himself" and Oliver Goldsmith's "Elegy on the Death of a Mad Dog".
Books can be attributed to "Unknown" when the author or editor (as applicable) is not known and cannot be discovered. If at all possible, list at least one actual author or editor for a book instead of using "Unknown".
Books whose authorship is purposefully withheld should be attributed instead to Anonymous.
Published by Everyman's Library Children's Classics. The binding is lovely and the book is a pleasure to hold. Included are the wonderful House that Jack Built and the nonsensical The Great Panjandrum Himself. I remember well those verses and illustrations from my childhood. Although I had no idea who Caldecott was until recently. A delightful collection.
