Read this book for my "Digital, Gender and Society" course in my Master's program. A very interesting, informative, and helpful book. It breaks down the nature of new media and how they have influenced, impacted, and shaped the world we know today. The birth of new media brings about the change from a society that focuses on commodity production to informational capitalism. Data are now the new commodities, which can be collected, bought, and sold. Moreover, new media have also had tremendous impact on multiple sectors in society, from economy, politics, gaming, to journalism, creating a world in which the speed of spreading information is now the top priority. And new media are here to stay, so it's best that we learn how to manage them in the right way and minimize the dark side of new media.
