To be honest, I expected more but I think that many will love this book because it has a single mom and a co-worker. My problem was with the main character Mark because he came to stress me out at one point and I felt like I didn't understand Maren.

Let's talk about the good, I loved Maren and the found family she was with her friends, I loved that we don't see a young single mom, we see an older one who thinks that no one will want her anymore but throughout the book you can see that everyone They love her, I also really liked the development. I can say that she and they were my favorite characters and that I kept reading because of them. I definitely loved the author's message, there is no age for you to find love.

...........

I read this a couple days ago and I’m still trying to process it. I liked it but I also have severe whiplash due to this sorry.

Single mom and recently divorced Maren is leaving her job as assistant editor to Mark. She’s going for on her own to work from home for a blog and she wants to finish a romance noval.

Mark is the sexy editor and Maren shoots her try by giving him her number. He texts her instantly and they text back and forth. Maren’s life is hectic. She has twin teen girls who are on a swim team and that fills up a lot of her schedule. After a first date with Mark, she gets kinda ghosted because she can’t find a spot for him frequently in her schedule.

She goes to her close friends house and walks in and see Mark there among the group of friends but he had a girl with him. He ghosted her for another girl.

This book is a lot of back and forth, little trust and lack of communication. I also didn’t like the fact she has had relationships with so many people in this group of friends.

Overall, okay book. Loved the bond of the mom and the girls. Other than that, it was okay.

DNF at 25% i’m sorry i can’t take it anymore.

i was attracted to the title of this book, “Sinning With You” which sounds very hot and sensual.

and this book began well enough :
she flirted with her boss on her last day being his editor, and it was also the same day she’s officially divorced from her husband.
but after that, boooooooom.

everything was boring.

i had no desire to keep going. trust me, i tried my best to finish this book but i simply COULD NOT. 💔

Maren was Mark's editor until she decides to take a work from home job that gives her the flexibility to also work on writing a novel. After finding her husband, now ex, cheating on her, she decides that she wants to make some changes in her life.

So on her last day on the job, she gives Mark her number in hopes of them becoming more than just coworkers. And after their first date, it seemed like it would be headed into that direction. Until Maren's life overwhelmed her and wouldn't allow any free time for Mark, so he stopped responding to her and moved on.

Well fast forward a month and they come face to face. Mark is in a new relationship and Maren is in a new situationship. They clearly are still pining for each other and they both take steps in the right direction to try and make things less awkward for each other now that they will be around each other more. But the sexual tension is still running rapid in the air. Will things cool down for them, or will they be able to move past previous hurt feelings and actually make a go of things?

Maren and Mark's chemistry was evident during their times together with the friend group and that made you root for them that much more. But Maren was a frustrating character for the majority of the book - at times, I just wanted to pull her out of the book and shake some sense into her.

The best part of this book was the side characters in the friend group - specifically Lucas and Mel. These characters were great and brought so much to the group/book! I loved Lucas's relationship with Maren, even being as they are exes, they were able to get along so well and really be each other sounding board.

• Thoughts:
Well, I really do not know how to review this book. It had its good points, but it also had parts where I couldn't wrap my head around it. I felt this book had major potential but just fell short for me personally. Of you like drama, then you will love this one.

Umm, I can honestly say I didn't like Mark. I liked him for a smidge during the middle of the book, I liked that he handled Maren and her issues with grace- she did not have an easy past with her past relationships, especially when he ghosted her in the very beginning. Maren is a single mom of two active teens, me I thought he was extremely immature about her busy schedule. (Two weeks of the month custodywoth her ex.) Even though she would text and call and try to at least make up by not seeing him face to face, she tried to staying connected by calling and text.  Personally, that is at least trying. This fully cemented my decision because his best friends wife even says he goes after what he wants. Yet he gives up this easy??
I did get to the point that even Maren was annoying as well. I get it I do, but come on. I felt these chatecters had such a slow go throughout the book. The last tiff ended up being extremely rushed  and to me, this left both main characters unredeemable.  both of them, especially Mark. I don't feel there was much connection between the characters.  Yes, they were co-workers and became friends, but we never get how good of friends. I wish we could have seen into their past, and maybe not so much back and forth when they were together.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: single mom, ex co-workers, second chance

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: a little miscommunication

I really liked the book, although at the beginning I had some mixed feelings.

Maren was Mark's editor until she found a flexible job that would give her time to work on her book and spend more time with her girls. After finishing her job as an editor for Mark, she gives him her phone number in the hope that they will be more than ex co-workers. The first meeting goes super well between them, but Maren's life gets busy, and Mark moves on.

After a period in which they did not speak but glanced at each other when they met, they started talking again. Over time, this led to the development of their relationship that they both wanted from the very beginning.

The chemistry between the two is evident during the time spent together, but in order to get their happy ending, their relationship suffered some ups and downs.

Thank you J. L. Stray for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Maren is a divorced single mom leaving her job as Mark Forry’s assistant to branch out on her own and finish her romance novel. Before she goes, Maren leaves Mark her number looking to pursue their relationship further, but being an active single mom doesn’t leave a lot of time to prioritize herself.

I loved the exploration of the challenges Maren faced navigating how to date again after her 16 year marriage while also balancing her involvement in her twin daughter’s lives. Joe was interesting character and I kept expecting to something else from him, but it was refreshing to see the open communication and respect he had for Maren. I wish that those communication skills would have translated more over to Maren and Mark, because their relationship seemed to suffer from unclear expectations of each other.

I struggled a bit with this book. Maren is a recently divorced mom of 2 teens. She worked as an editor for Mark Forry but was leaving to pursue other opportunities. On her last day she decides to give her number to Mark.

They eventually set up a date that seemed to go well, but after the first date Maren had difficulty making time to see Mark. He ultimately ghosted her.

Maren heads out to visit with her friends one night and finds Mark in presence with another woman. She feels betrayed.

Without giving too much away, Maren had many complicated relationships with several people. It made it difficult to connect with her on a personal level, for a 40 year old woman she was a bit immature.

She did make her children a priority and that was great to see but overall, I think this story was a bit lost on me.

Spice was excellent though 🤌🏼

ARC REVIEW

I finished this book in a day, I couldn’t put it down. Karen made me hesitant to like her because she was second guessing every decision but as a mother I was able to see myself in her.

The heat, the struggle, the love....it has it all.

Maren was a woman who lost her husband to another woman. She has twin girls and found Mark Forry irresistible, but she worked with him until...she didn't, so in a bold move she gave him her number.

Mark was shocked she gave him her number and he called. Only Maren didn't really make time for him and he wanted her attention.

One night they met up at a friend's house and he was with another woman. So what's a girl to do?

Umm....yeah that's right, find a hunky a$$ man to do the dirty, no strings but lots of heat. ( I surely hope Joe gets a happy ending, I was kinda routing for him, lol)

But when Mark finally comes around, is it too late? Can Maren get over her distrust issues or will she truly ruin the best thing to ever happen to her? This book was absolutely incredible .

Maren’s insecurities were there and understood especially after her ex husband’s behavior.

I really liked her stepping out of her comfort zone with Joe and wished we had more of them together.

I really disliked Mark’s acting like her being a busy single mom was too much at first but then suddenly wanted to be a family man.

She had so much reason to be upset with the happy hour scene and everyone treated her like she was crazy. I definitely would have lost my mind 🤷🏾‍♀️.

I really liked her relationship with her daughters and Mel.

I just wish she had a little bit more confidence in thinking that she is worthy.

Also can we get a Joe from his POV?

The spice and angst was on point and lovely.

Sinning with You was a little hard for me to get through.

Maren is a recently divorced single mom of two. Maren decides to leave her editor job with Mark Forry for other opportunities. She knew that getting involved Mark would be difficult. They went on one date and it went while until he ghosts her. After seeing Mark at her best friend's house with another girl, she feels betrayed. As a single mom, I'm happy that she always put her girls first and she never wavered. I did not like the lack of communication between Maren and Mark. They never seemed to have an adult conversation about being together. Maren's insecurities really got the best of her. They both do a lot of groveling. I wish we would have gotten Mark's POV.

The spice in this book is really good.

Maren, a recent divorcee, is dipping her toe into the dating world once again. Seeing where it might lead her…though she likely hopes it leads her straight to her former co-worker, Mark Forry.

Their story leans a little work-place, second chance romance. And had the makings of some good banter & angst build-up. You can tell the MCs want to be together…
But there were more than a few moments through out where I physically pulled back with a “huh?” Or a “what just happened?” Primarily around some choppy dialogue moments and storyline pieces that seemed to not quite fit.
A but more character development and/or digging into the plot at purposeful junctions would probably really elevate the overall experience.

It was an interesting and different read for me as I was left a bit confused in the beginning but it slowly started to make more sense as I kept reading. Maren and Mark definitely did not have an easy journey, there was some angst and groveling from both sides to a certain extent. The twins are so sweet and I liked how strong their bond with Maren is. Lucas and Mel are so great and it was quite a sight to behold in terms of their friendship with Maren. The story is told from only Maren’s point of view, I would have liked to read about Marks point of view in some areas however it wasn’t a major issue.

BOOK REVIEW: Sinning With You
Author: J.L. Stray
Rating: ★★★★

This book was definitely a different read for me. I would say in the beginning I did not know where it was going between our two main characters, Maren and Mark. As I was getting through the book it started to make sense. Between the two of them, there was a lot of miscommunication. You also get to see how Maren let her insecurities kind of take over. I do love how it was very unpredictable. Having the story from Maren's POV it allowed me to keep guessing because you never knew what was going to be on her mind.

Maren, a recently divorced 40 y/o mom decides to take a chance and give someone she works with her number (Mark).

While I understand dating when you get older may be difficult and is difficult especially when kids are involved, but this is something you should definitely communicate to any potential partner. Which she did with Mark, but I don’t think she did enough. This put Mark in a position of not feeling wanted or chosen. Of course, as a single parent myself, any person I choose to date should understand that my children will always come first. But you make time for those you want to make time for.

There was a lot of miscommunication and back and forth, especially on Maren’s part. Very indecisive. She wanted Mark, but then wasn’t sure if she could fully commit. Or having the constant doubts of being left behind. Don’t get me wrong, I get it.. but it went on and on and on.

I did like the book, and the spice was great.. the connection between her and her daughters was amazing. I feel like her daughters were a little more mature than her at times. Lol.

*Arc Review*

I’m so sad but this book was not for me. I had a hard time getting through it and couldn’t connect to our two MCs. I think my biggest issue was the lack of communication/ miscommunication that happened. I just wanted to yell at them to have a transparent adult conversation. I also didn’t care to see them having relations with anyone else except each other, I just wanted Mark and Maren to be together.

I think if you don’t mind the back and forth and some miscommunication then this would be a book I would recommend! It just wasn’t for me.

I loved this book from start to finish. I related to the main character Mauren in certain parts. What I loved more than anything else is the growth she has through out the book. When I read the last page I almost cried and I had goosebumps. This book is really good. The support system she has is great and even with one of her exes and his wife it’s so good. And I love the way her and Mark play out. It’s a good book that shows sometimes those have to come down for someone to come in worth it all.

Maren finalizes her divorce, and on her last day at her job she gives her number to the man she has been editing for for years, Mark. She’s been interested in Mark for some time but wanted to get through her divorce first.

She knows falling for Mark could be dangerous, and after trying to get things going, he finds her schedule with twin teenage daughters too much to handle. Maren is heartbroken and writes Mark off, but soon they come face to face again at her best friend/ex-lovers house and the attraction is too obvious to be ignored.

But Maren keeps Mark at an arms length despite his efforts to break through and get her to see that he isn’t the player she things he is! Will Maren let Mark in or will she find a reason to run?

Gosh, I think I was frustrated with Maren for most of this book! I wanted her to wake up and see what was right in front of her and stop being a b***h! I couldn’t help but root for Mark and want him to win in the end!!

Sinning with You has lots of twists and turns and you will find out early on that Maren has hard luck on the romance front, being a better friend than a lover, now divorced her focus is on her girls but that doesn't stop her from giving co-worker Mark her number, the rest should be easy right? Nope, there is nothing easy about Maren and Marks's romance it is full of misunderstandings which makes the romance anything but easy.

Was lucky enough to get this as an arc and truly enjoyed it. It drove me crazy how the fmc was so cautious about her every decision for everything in her life, but I think that’s also what made it a page turner. I read it in a day, couldn’t put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I love how I didn’t find it predictable at all. Also loved that it was all from her point of view so that also kept you guessing!

Maren’s ex husband and ex boyfriend seem to be ok guys but they sure didn’t treat her all that well either so I could understand why she hesitated with Mark. They started off on the wrong foot and she did do him wrong. He definitely had the patience to put up with her back and forth.

Story’s making a good view about dating after divorce. How hard it could be, what you can expect. It’s really realistic point of view, not something idyllic, more like real life. I enjoy this story.

From coworkers to more… Maren took a chance in giving Mark her number on her last day at the paper. There was always something there between them. However Maren never did anything about it since she was married. Now that she’s divorced and has another job she felt that she could. She also wanted to spend more time with her twin girls.

This book was not for me. This book is a great example of dating and finding love after divorce. This mom, is trying to balance dating, daughters and work. She’s been in love with her boss but after quitting she realized he wasn’t what she expected and he spends majority of the book groveling to earn her back. The big question is will it be enough?
