Intentional Healing is a story of transformation. It is the story of a conservative Western-educated woman confronted with debilitating and bizarre symptoms that no one can explain. No one, that is, until she meets a diagnostic detective, Dr. Leo Galland in New York City, who refers her to a pioneer in environmental medicine, Dr. William J. Rea, in Dallas, Texas. He, in turn, refers her to Deborah Singleton, founder and director of A Healing Place, and her healing team, who introduce her to the possibility of healing from within. With their guidance, she begins the process of expanding her consciousness and understanding the real roots of illness. Her journey, which included initiation into Reiki channeling and healing from Navajo hataali, takes her from dark nights of the soul to not only freedom from illness but also the discovery of her own healing abilities. In her energy practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she now teaches others the healing approaches that brought her to wellness and spiritual growth.
Jennie has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in counseling. She has been an educator, as well as a writer and editor in the field of public health. She is certified in Reiki I and II and has studied energy therapies at A Healing Place in Richardson, Texas, working under the direction of Deborah Singleton. Jennie also acknowledges the guidance of Christine Gregg, Australian Spirit reader and healer, and Maya Page, intuitive healer, Reiki Master, and VortexHealing® practitioner, now retired. In Baltimore, Maryland, where she lives with her husband, Roger, Jennie writes about health, the environment, energy medicine, healing and consciousness. Her son, Colin, lives and works in New York City.
This is a wonderful book chronicling a courageous journey from illness to healing. Jennie's life quickly spirals into a dark world of sensitivities to chemicals, electro-magnetic fields, and foods. Her story offers encouragement and hope to those who suffer from this "invisible illness" and their caretakers as well. This book is a must read.

This well-written book is one woman's personal endeavor to overcome the obstacles making her sick. Using energy balance treatments, she also adds spiritual Indian healing and other measures to heal body, mind and soul. The author draws the reader into the book and shares her personal experiences in this extremely moving story of one woman's battle against chronic illness. Her book is a great resource book, but simply phrased with precise instructions as to where and how to seek help to fellow sufferers and those who care for them. Her story offers essential information packed with references; and her own website for support and further information.
Author Jennie Sherwin is a living example of what perseverance and faith can do for healing, and by sharing her often terrible experiences, offers hope for so many other sufferers.
Micki Peluso, author of . . . And the Whippoorwill Sang
Wonderful to read about one woman's healing from Environmental Illness through her experience at Dr. Rea's EHCD, and her extensive energy healing with Deborah Singleton in Dallas and, after relocating to New Mexico, with local energy masters and eventually with Navajo healers. The author got sick from pesticide poisoning, and her treatment consisted of 3x daily sauna, a rotation diet with elimination of foods to which she is sensitive, and injected antigens according to Rea's Provocation neutralization therapy protocols. I read the book because I also have environmental illness. I found the book short on the kind of medical details that interest me and the writing style flat, more like journalistic writing than good memoir writing. As a result, I found it easy to put the book down. However, if you want inspiration for your own healing, the author's journey and her success will fill that need
This book is not only an inspirational personal journey of a healer, but it certainly opens your eyes as to the true origin of many chronic illnesses in the world today. This book has taught me a lot about electromagnetic frequencies and the chemical we are exposed to every moment of our life. The penny dropped and I understood some of my symptoms and some of my clients symptoms. I think this book is a very important piece, a starting point for many. I love the honesty and integrity of the author. Jennie is laying herself bare, not hiding the ugly truths of her experience. Thank you for a great book.
I simply cannot believe what the author endured through this story. I never even knew some of the ailments that struck her existed. This book should serve as inspiration for anyone that is ill and feels alone.
The book is well written and the author takes her time creating and setting up the story. And it works. A lot of authors cannot get away with that.
Intentional Healing is a fascinating trip with the author through her ordeal to rid herself of her sensitivities. If you can grasp the healing explanations, you will be drawn into the story and live it with her. She makes you believe that there are other ways to wellness besides the traditional. An exceptional Good Read for an open mind.
I'm being generous here, but any story about recovery needs to be shared, so... 4 stars minimum. It's strange, neat, and a little depressing to read about people that I know.
It showed that the author was a professional writer. Well written, well edited, perfect length for what she was trying to convey, interesting, and inspiring.
