Positive messages: 5/5 God can forgive any sin, and that is evident in this novel. He works everything for the good of those who love Him. Even when the world seems like it is failing you, God never will. Keep holding on whenever you feel ashamed or depressed and don’t lie–come to God and an adult for support. Don’t be ashamed of your past but use your stories and mistakes, which are forgiven by Jesus Christ, to help others around you get through similar circumstances. Trust in God and if he says it’s a red light then stop right away. Bible verses are quoted throughout the novel to help with each situation. God sends guardian angels to watch over those who trust in Him. Hiding things from your parents is NOT a smart thing to do and you will end up in a rough situation if you are not open and honest.
Positive role models: 5/5 Bad role models are seen as bad role models and eventually end up in jail. Julia is kind and forgiving and always trusts in God to lead her through the toughest times. She helps others with her story and is brave. David isn’t pushy and helps Julia in her time of struggle. Flip listens to Julia when she says she doesn’t want to date him and is a gentleman and agrees to just be a friend. He helps her get through different situations (as a friend) throughout the novel. Julia’s parents are forgiving and encouraging. Julia’s brother and his wife, Jen, are always there to talk to Julia and uplift her. They encourage her to be honest and not hide anything from her parents. Julia’s sister in Christ and best friend, Cassie, encourages her to wait for the right person and be patient.
