Edmonstone Chronicles: Royal Knights and Scottish Kings

Rate this book
The book is a fascinating comprehensive history of Scotland as it pertains to the Edmonstone Knights who served the Kings of Scotland and married their daughters. After several trips to Scotland, the author, Joan La Grone (a descendant of King Robert the Bruce), has pulled together an incredible amount of research unearthing a wealth of information, facts and stories of Rob Roy, the Stewart Kings, Bonnie Prince Charlie and the so called "murder of the Master Rollo in 1691" involving Sir James Edmonstone, 6th Newton of Doune. Although innocent, Sir James (a Jacobite) was convicted under a new law designed to expel him from Scotland for defending the House of Stewart. Despite the banishment, he returned to carry the Royal Standard for James VIII in the Battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715. This is a book for anyone with a Scottish background or with an interest in Scotland.
