Listening for Wellness: An Introduction to the Tomatis Method

Rate this book
"Listening for Wellness" is an introduction to the work of Dr. Alfred Tomatis, who discovered that Listening (as opposed to hearing) is the key to Wellness. Listening problems are at the root of many learning and communication problems, and learning how to listen well greatly improves our abilities. It is a "must read" book for parents, teachers, psychologists and musicians. Even though the book is an in-depth presentation of the work of Dr. Tomatis, it is easy to read thanks to the many examples taken from the practice of the author.

I love the book. It seems to be the best, most detailed instruction on how to use Tomatis method. The author was writing the book for 8 years and made sure it contains everything you need to know. That's a perfect combination of theoretical information on how an ear developes and operates (very interesting part about prenatal experience) and how it's connected with the voice. The theory is given in a clear way with few obligatory terms. Mr Sollier provides readers with tons of examples from his practice and analysis different possible situations while using Tomatis method. The most valuable part for practitioners is how to interpret Listening Test (in details and with examples). Moreover there's a chapter about psychological ear which thrills and inspires.
