Mr Gorightly travels around California and finds weird things.

This book is a series of previously published articles and transcriptions of podcasts, etc. Unfortunately as the author tends to talk about the same subjects in the same words. This gives a sense of deja vu, as though you are reading the same paragraph time and again. What seems amusing the first time round quickly becomes dull.

Writing from the perspective of a counter-culture 'merry prankster', Gorightly's mocking tone makes it difficult to determine what, if anything, he does actually believe.

The theories covered in in this book include the idea that 50s actress Tuesday Weld and 80s popstar Tiffany head opposing branches of the Illuminati, and that Charles Manson and his family were MK ULTRA MIMD controlled assassins in this cosmic war.
Other 'weird things' include JFK, Roswell, black squirrels, dopplegamgers and Aleister Crowley.
On a more personal level the author describes taking LSD and seeing UFO's, going on a pilgrimage to a Discordian shrine, and attending Conspiracy Conventions where he refers to himself as a 'Gonzo journalist'.

And it's old. So old it's hardly worth caring. Mr Gorightly confesses his great admiration of Robert Anton Wilson, both as a writer and an individual, but seems unable to move away from the conspiracies that informed Illuminatus! Instead he just rehashes the same tired old junk as though it was still the 70s.
He even says 'grokked'.

The author gives no references or proof, instead he goes for a intimate anecdotal tone where he tells the reader that he doesn't need to explain as anyone reading would already be in the know.

This would be all very well and occasionally amusing if it were not for one passage where Mr Gorightly appears to dismiss the alleged molestation of an 8 year old with the words
"...he probably thought it was all good, letting nature take its course..."

Pretty gross.
