Trudy Jeffreys has made a career of advising, counseling, and encouraging the women of America to look deep within themselves and follow their hearts. But when Trudy's best friend Camille asks Trudy to join her on a mission to reconnect with a man she hasn't seen in fourteen years, Trudy balks. First of all, Camille is married. Second- how in the hell are two small town Iowa women going to gain the attention of a major rock star? Thus begins a madcap adventure that takes two friends from the rolling fields of the Midwest to the beaches of Southern California and the backstage corridors of the Hollywood Bowl-- an adventure that teaches both women the true meaning of friendship and personal empowerment, and gives them a taste of the freedom that comes from risking all you hold dear for a single unanswered question.
I found myself smiling and laughing out loud several times throughout this book. The characters are so well developed that I felt like I knew them and was sitting in the room with them. I could relate them to people that I know personally. It was a story that I couldn’t wait to finish but that I didn’t want to end. I did struggle with some high vocabulary words in the first few pages and was concerned that it would be the theme of the book and that I would not be able to keep up with the story. However that does not continue as heavily throughout the book. A very good read in my opinion. It is a moderate paced book.
I loved the book. The main characters and their spouses reminded me of people I know or have known. The depictions of small town anywhere resonated with my experiences. Several times I was caught laughing out loud while reading. This is another book that I could not wait to get to the end while at the same time wishing it would not end. A few told me that this book belongs to the genre of Chick Lit but I still enjoyed it very much and recommend it highly.
Fantastic read. A literal, physical, and spiritual journey of self-discovery between two friends. You find yourself rooting for Camille to have a happy ending, no matter what.
