October 29, 2024I’ve finally read the annotated version. This is my favorite Austen. I like the seasoned heroine and the second chance theme. Scholars say she had her fatal illness while writing this and so it is not as polished as her other works. It also lacks the usual comic touch. Still my favorite!

Absolutely beautiful copy! Well-researched and so helpful!
I had to get used to kind of being thrown out of the story for a while to read the annotations but it was so worth it :)
I have never felt closer to Anne Elliot as a character and even Wentworth seemed more approachable through the little guesses about his intents.
I might think about buying another one of these :))
