Have you ever wondered why evil is seemingly running rampant these days? This book examines answers to that question. With copious references, Pondering Ponerology is a sound introduction to the philosophical premise of good and evil.
A rather good basic book. So, the first several chapters are basically a VERY brief overview of Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity's histories (and even briefer views on some of the other religions) and their views on evil. Very brief, but a fair amount of information. The rest of the book gets into an amazing amount of detail on those religions views of evil, as well as the scientific views of it. Makes for a surprisingly good read. I say surprisingly, because I figured it would be fairly plain, but it actually did grab my attention and held it all the way through. The author does a great job of discussing this and enjoyably so. The author also was great about noting her facts, and it makes me want to dig further with the other authors mentioned.
I did want to mention that the author is from New Zealand, so some of the English spelling is quirky as compared to American English. It threw me for a loop till I realized it, since there are spelling differences, as far as "s" and "z" in some words.
