St. Alphonsus “a single bad book will be sufficient to cause the destruction of a monastery.” Pope Pius XII wrote in 1947 at the beatification of Blessed Maria “There rises to Our lips the cry of the 'Woe to the world because of scandals!' (Matthew 18:7). Woe to those who consciously and deliberately spread corruption-in novels, newspapers, magazines, theaters, films, in a world of immodesty!” We at St. Pius X Press are calling for a crusade of good books. We want to restore 1,000 old Catholic books to the market. We ask for your assistance and prayers. This book is a photographic reprint of the original. The original has been inspected and some imperfections may remain. At Saint Pius X Press our goal is to remain faithful to the original in both photographic reproductions and in textual reproductions that are reprinted. Photographic reproductions are given a page by page inspection, whereas textual reproductions are proofread to correct any errors in reproduction.
This book contained so much to help me grow spiritually; I took extensive notes. I loved that the chapters weren’t long, so when I had time to pick up the book I could finish a chapter easily. The author doesn’t mince his words; he is challenging and direct, but I love his ‘no nonsense’ approach that cuts to the heart of the matter.
I read this book with a few mamas from our Church. I found the book challenging me, cheering for me, and pushing me along as a mama. I will definitely reread it next summer, as I am sure I barely scratched the surface of what it has to offer. This book will be my go-to baby shower book!
The title threw me off because I thought it would not be applicable to the season of mothering I am in. However I believe any woman, mother or not, would benefit greatly from reading this excellent book. I will return to this often. It truly sets a wonderful example for the woman God calls each of us to be.
My copy is from the publisher, Cor Jesu and it was lovely and a joy to read.
A lot of the typical advice one would expect in a book like this, but I appreciated the chapters at the end with guidance about children and Communion.
